  6. It has come to my attention that the front end of this beetle now has zero, zilch, nada in the way of suspension travel on the front end now....

I will check out the fronts shocks as they could be completely compressed. It must have been a little bumpy for the lad I bought it off!!

In other news, using two hammers of increasing size and a crow bar, the pedal assembly is out -the bugger was all seized together. I have left the various pieces in disarray on the floor to consider their behaviour....next - a new clutch cable installation that should allow me to put the car into reserve and first without embarrassing grinding action. If not, something else is *****eted.

  7. What beam is on it now? The puma beam on mine had poo out of round bearings in it so the torsion arms seized in them.

  9. It doesn't seem to want to move anywhere without a fight. It has urethane bushes in that may be the issue - may have to swap them out for needle roller bearing - or it may be completely shagged in which case I'll just push it all to the side of the garage while and forget about it for a while.

  10. After a mere 2 year hiatus in proceedings I have cleaned the jammed up pedal assembly.

At this rate I’m well on track for Run to the Sun 2030.

  11. The Biannual update - so on a rare day of not working, being on hols, doing stuff I don’t want to do or being drunk- I have done some beetleing.

    things achieved

-made front wheels point roughly in the same direction
    -changed clutch cable
    -but the pedals back in
    - refitted fuel tank
    - changed the fuel pump

Also flooded the garage with fuel when a particularly fruity fuel line I overlooked changing split…

think I need to buy some tyres that actually hold air and try
And get it rolling for the next update in 2024
