Agree that’s a tragic waste! …but on the bright side could be a handy help yourself to parts pitstop

 

I think its his wig that has slipped down. Do you think he noticed.

 

Maybe cadmium

 

Its spoil from the old coal mine. The whole beach is covered in it. Theres rust streaks in most of the rocks too.

I can only find info saying limestone and sandstone but i'd sssumed there must be ironstone for the colour.
The BGS say that the reddening was entirely a secondary effect superimposed on normal grey sandstone, caused by oxidation in pre-Permian times, when the climate was arid and the water table lay well below the surface.
