    This is the point. I'm not sure. I tried to suss it out when I was viewing it, but didn't have the time or knowledge to tell if it was a simple seal or a bigger job. Could be too expensive a mistake to make if I'm honest.

  5. enjoy it and just keep topping up the oil, that's what we do with our vans isn't it?

  6. Might be worth googleing the problem/model/year and see what come up on the jag forums. Fixed mine by doing just that (x type)

  7. Have a look at the mot history. There is mention of some rear sub frame corrosion and brake lines and the oil leak came up years ago. All advisories only. You can't expect a perfect car for only £500.

  8. If I didn't already have one, I'd be phoning local Shaguar Guru, David Marks.
    I'm certain that he'll know what the problem is & be able to price for it over the phone.
    It could be a ten bob fix or one of those, 'it'll last another decade like that'
    Just as the V8's are known for suddenly shatting their cylinder liners/timing chain tensioners etc
    Similarly the straight sixes are well known for dying very, very slowly.
    And as we say in Jaaaag circles;
    V8's are driven by yobbo's
    V12's are driven by counts
    And the Sixes are driven by gentlemen.

    I looked at the MOT history before going, but this leak was pretty bad and it was new looking oil. I think it's worse than just a quick fix.

    There's the small issue of room. I have just had to let a couple of keepers go and still have the LT a T4 and the Mrs's Nissan Note on the drive. The LT takes up a lot of room, but we all love it and it just has to be there. It's a six car drive without the LT though.

  16. Why not google the fault.

    I've tried, but no success there really. The only thing it came up with was cam seals and timing belt seals.

  18. I have just done it ,cam covers,even showed a UTube how to fix.
