I knew I should have kept my trusty Citroen C15 . Due to no power steering I s******ed off and bought a Seat Inca van (same as VW Caddy Mk2) Not a few months later and it’s sat outside my house with the oil warning light and alarm shouting at me saying low oil pressure. I’ve checked the oil and it’s in the dipstick where it should be. I added a bit more, just in case, but still light/alarm on. Internet says it may be an electronic problem? Any ideas/advice welcome please. It’s a 1.9 sdi engine. (German bobbins, my frenchy Citroen never failed me, apart from exhausts falling off, and accelater shearing, but at least it was still driveable
What oil? but seriously I'd agree with @lhu1281 most electronic issues are with cheap sensors of one type or another.
Yes either the high pressure oil pressure switch has failed or the dynamic oil pressure unit has failed What year and engine is it? (rotary pump or PD).
Um I'm afraid I don't know. It's a Y reg. I've just had cambelt change which was about £400. Apparently the other engine is half the price to replace the cambelt if that helps?
What does bonnet do? I had quick shufti today but need to take off some plastic cover as I’m not sure where the sensor is and I couldn’t see anything obvious on the bit of engine I could see
If its the low oil sensor? Then it's in the bottom of the oil sump. The bonnet has a swicth and it uses this to warn you to check the oil. It's a weird VAG thing.
Not sure. It's due to the oil light on the dash flashing and making a nasty beeping sound. My oil level fine so I'm hoping it's a dodgy sensor. Wherever it may be. If it's in the sump I presume that means getting under the van and getting oily?
It’s not the coolant level ..? Weird thing to ask but in the cold I get the warning light on even tho it’s over the min mark ..
I checked all the levels while I had the bonnet up. I’ve been bit busy so not looked for a few days. I will try again now it’s warmer, just incase
I’ve fixed it!!!!! I continued in my normal mechanic fashion, i.e, nothing. As I was home in daylight today I decided to have a look at th van and take the oil sensor out. Thought I’d put it on the drive, started it up - no flashing light/annoying screech. Thought I’d take it for a spin and all was good. I am the van whisperer!!
