Inspired by having met the legendary @davidoft at a motorway services to swap some bits of metal, (and having seen how much of said metal it is possible to cram into the boot of a car!) I thought it was about time to sell this complete type four 1700 basket case and matching gearbox that were hoiked out of a US import recently. Never mind "endfloat" I think they must have been "afloat" as the fuel tank was Swiss cheese and there's a tide mark on the casings .... I know how to sell 'em! Sorry no photos yet as I think it would make you cry until I've cleaned the poor beggar up a bit. Safe to say "spares and repairs" so £300, collected from Gloucestershire (See also "1600 for rebuild")
Fair enough ... "Life" getting in the way but it's on the agenda ... In fact I'll pre-emt this for you:
Here we go (though not of the gearbox ..."Doh!") ... and there will be a delay while I go via tapatalk
Interested , but how soon do you need it collected? I’ve a way to travel to Gloucestershire you see... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Just outside of a tiny place near a small town near a town near Gloucester" ... Just outside Nympsfield, near Nailsworth, near Stroud, Glos
Well although it's a case of the sooner the better because of space, I'm beginning to get advised that I should really take the trouble to separate this all out a little if I want to realise it's best value. The back box and fuel tank were, as I've said, "Swiss cheese", so I've been assuming that the gearbox and block would be knackered, but the heat exchangers are not looking too bad at all, and I think the fact that things were nicely oiled up could have saved them from the effects of having maybe sat in water. This is "breaking news" so I haven't had a chance to change this "advert" yet. I'll get my head around it today
Sending back in a tick ... LITTLE bit of progress on the dismantling but not enough to get good photos of exchangers condition.
