  3. Been a great last few weeks with the bus, managed a good 2.5h drive each way to meet some of the Mrs mates.

We stayed at moorhay farm in the peak District, good basic little campsite and the drive over was utterly stunning.

Small problem with it not wanting to start at the beginning but after a quick tow round the corner it bump started right up.

Combination of flooding the carb and a crappy battery.

  4. The fun starts now, due to the last planned camping trip done, I've decided it's time for a light restoration (famous last words)

So due to no shelter or garage I bought a portable one from eBay. A mate used one for his prototype bay resto and it worked well.

So £189 later it's up in the garden and ready to get stuck in.

First thing to tackle is a strip down of the van as it will be getting painted also, mouse grey and white is the current choice.

First of many pannels bought where two new front arch's from scholfeild not cheap at £250 a pop but the quality is decent. Time to start cutting and prepping I guess.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  6. Day two of the strip down, emptying the whole van before welding, always knew the recent interior was only going to be a temporary tidy up untill I started the welding.

Inside and window frames are all solid so far which is a great plus, Mrs came for a look before and has started thinking about new interior layout and look.

Lucky I've got a few awesome mates one who is decent with a welder and the other with paint.

So after a loose plan he is going to pop round in the day to tackle the majority of the welding for me in exchange for pack lunches and beers.

Looking forward to cracking on this weekend and tomorrow night. Hopefully have it gutted by tomorrow eve. [IMG][IMG]

  8. Weekends worth of pics

Managed to unpick one arch, which has unearthed the need for a outer d Piller, closing panel, cab floor half, and seat belt mount.

Few previous repairs around the seat belt mount section made it a bit difficult but happy enough so far.

Just need to tidy it up and start replacing some metal. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  9. More welding fun, rot went further back as expected so decent part of the b pillar and inner closing is being replaced. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  11. Wells had a good 6 hours on the bus today.

B pillar finish, and closing pannel fitted, even managed to get the arch tacked on.

I will let the pics do the talking.

  12. Forgot to get some before pictures.

But a reminder of the hole is up above, welded in the new seatbelt cab floor and had to make a small patch due to some rot on the seat base.

It's not tidy, but it's solid though it was better to concentrate on decent penetration, will tidy up later this week.

Arch is all in though, next will be the cab floor. [IMG][IMG]

  13. Well another fun week.

Let's start off with the bad parts, started to unpick and clean the rear valance which needs replacing.

Also the utter state of the rear quarter

But on the brighter side of things, the cab floor and lower tub pannel is now in place. Just time to tidy up primer and seam seal it. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  14. Let's call it one arch done, tow coats of zinc primer to keep the rust at bay and it's onto inspecting the rear end.

Remove what was some poor attempt of a previous battery tray repair, it's a utter mess back there lower d pillar is gone, chassis rail looks ok but the inner engine trays both side are shot.

Half tempted to start on the driver's side arch before properly starting the back end, due to the rear valance also needing work. So the back end is going to be one hell of a job. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Some tidy repairs going on there fella. I've just repaired our engine skirts which were as bad as these.

  19. Slight change of plan, the initial idea was to finish one whole side and work my way around the bus ending on the driver's side arch.

Scrapped that plan and decided to do the driver's arch, bought all the pannels needed from scholfeild which includes.
    D post
    Inner closing plate
    Seatbelt bracket
    Cab floor half
    Lower tub repair

And due to some unforeseen rot around the driver's seat rail it also needed replacing.

One annoying thing was how rotten the tub was under the seat rail, a pannel that can't be bought in sections so I'm going to have to make that myself, as I wasn't keep on buying a whole replacement tub, and scholfeild was out of stock anyways.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
