So I’ve recently had to relocate my T2, so I’ve brought a couple of shipping containers. Needed to make some access ramps, so this was my solution.
How do you get in/out? Need to put up a car port for our van but are limited for width, this might well solve our issue!
Very carefully. Normally park it a little over to the left more. Also put some protective self adhesive foam on the side wall of the container to stop me damaging the door and paint work.

How easy is it to get in & out of the sliding door? I've been considering a container so keen to know how easy it is in reality. Currently using a wide garage and getting out the normal doors
The internal width of the container is 7 1/2 foot and the van is no more 6 foot wide. There’s enough room to open the drivers door and slide out, if the van is tucked up against the near-side. There wouldn’t be any issue if using the sliding door. I can’t use the sliding door for 2 reasons. The first being I removed the external barrel lock from the sliding door and secondly, there’s usually items blocking my way to the sliding door from the drivers seat.
There are ventilation grills in the containers; however, I think this needs to be improved. Haven’t had the containers that long, so I haven’t experienced all weather conditions. The additional grills I’m looking at are about £45 each, so their not cheap but would prefer a draughty dry container to a wet sweat box.
4-off air vents delivered this morning. These will be installed in the doors, one for each door at low level.
