Not quite - it was whether they were safe enough even with RCD switch on it. The answer was it depends on 1. State of your cable, 2. State of the campsites electrics.
I am also a member of TR forum...... the comparison between the two is marked. TR one is on life support, TLB is thriving in comparison. Whether it's as vibrant as it was I am not best placed to judge as only been here for a couple of years.
I think the political stuff is just indicative of society. This site, like many other online forums, is a microcosm (not necessarily completely indicative, as rusty old hippy vans and camping attracts *mostly* a certain demographic). Over the last few years, the UK has shown itself to be divided on many issues, and a place where when putting their views across, some have done so in a more forceful or aggressive fashion. It's the thing that makes me most worried about the future of this country. There are going to be differences of opinion and different people are going to disagree, but over the past 2 years we seem to have become that much more intolerant of the views of others. On things like Facebook, this is not an issue, as the architecture of the site encourages users to retreat into their own idealogical echo chambers, with those who broadly agree with them. On an open forum this isn't possible, because the site isn't built like that. Therefore a combination of the growing intolerance in society and being faced with opposing views means that it can get a bit heated. I try and read what I've written and pause before I hit the 'post reply' button, but I accept that there is the temptation to just fire stuff off at people because it's just the internet and people can get carried away and act in a way they may not do IRL.
And I have to send @Lord Congi all the Chelsea home programs, and I know he and @Ploptop2 subscribe to Chelsea TV
Basically, I love it, I use it when I want, post when I want, help out if I can and I have time, ask for help and generally get positive advice and laugh at lots on here. But, it doesn't run my life, if I don't get chance to use it I don't worry about it, I don't worry about missed key information and if I need to I use the search. I find everybody on here normal, we all have gripes, issues, concerns and more important things to do some times. When I look back I joined for help in restoring my van, its nearly finished but, I realise too it will never end, its always ongoing and I shall always need the help of more experienced members. Does it really need the support of millions of members to be a success, I think not and I look forward to meeting some of you when my van finally gets the outings it deserves! Hoorah for TLB!
