Parking in Oxford is impossible.. Try the river (meadows) behind the famous trout inn.. We had a picnic there last week...
When you say Romantic picnic do you mean romantic, blanket on the ground, wicker hamper, champagne, roses or romantic as in few beers down the pub, then down by the river after closing time, a maDonald's few cans then romance into the small hours, wink wink nudge nudge
Have you never been to Oxford my good man?! @john8591 you could also go punting afterwards for a proper Oxford day out
Blenheim Palace, Waterperry Gardens, Harcourt Arboretum, Wittenham Clumps, Uffington White Horse, Annie's tea room in Thrupp, Shotover, Badbury Clump... there's loads of places. Depends what you want really. One of our summer favorites is to drive up to Burton Dassett Hill in the evening, park on the top of the hill, fire up the bbq and open a cold beer and watch the sunset.
I remember my mum and dad having a massive row when he tried to teach her to drive at Avon dassett! Not the best place to learn how to do hill starts! Did you see when they had all the bonfires lit for the queens jubilee? We watched from Epwell and you could see Avon dasset Fire and then more in the distance. I like the round house thing at the top
I took the dog for a long walk on Port Meadow this morning - I'd suggest you avoid this for the picnic unless you're not bothered by cow pats and goose poo.
Hi everyone Thanks for all the info and sorry to acknowledge you all so late, all fab ideas I now need to work out which one to do
