Has anyone done there own wood roof liner? If so I'm after some pictures and info on what you used and how you did it......... My turn next as I'm ready to see if I can do it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have a look on Gusbus' restoration thread, we have a ply headliner with spotlights fitted. We used the Just Kampers kit with the channels running across the roof joins and up/down the length of the bus
SJH Joinery used to do them but Scott sold up, I don't know what the business is doing these days, sadly
Did it have one before? If so I assume the channels are still there to receive the edges. Did mine a while ago and made the channelling myself with strip wood from B&Q - be prepared to use quite a bit of force, put one edge in then the other getting the board into a "wave" shape and push the bottom of the wave up until it flicks into shape. Very difficult to explain!!
By the time you buy the wood and the fitting kit it's around £350! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You will need to make up some sort of channel to receive the edges, it can't just sit in the space above the roof line. I'm sure someone can explain this better than me!!
It's 5mm birch ply available in most wood yards for about £60 a sheet 8 x 4. You can steam bend it, butt join it and use T strip to cover the joins.
The westy already has a channel and had white board up there originally - replaced mine with walnut: Sounds very easy but was a bugger to do pleased with how it turned out though.
