Catriona the Campervan

  1. colour looks great, and it looks like a lot of work has gone into it :)

i can see why you have deleted the seams but tbh i like having the seams as it breaks the bus up a little.

also you are missing a lot of tinware off of your engine, its going to get hot mate, don't forget that on a dune buggy the engine is not rammed inside of an engine bay it is outside.
i would be looking for the correct fan housing and all the missing tinder if i was you :)

  2. I mentioned before unless engine has all tinware and shroud it will melt .....it may not look cool but will last ....
What rear disc set up are you running ?

  3. Cheers Chris. Just dry fitting the engine for the time being. The tinware has been painted to match. To save any scratches planning to leave it until the final fit.

I hadn't thought about replacing the fan housing tbh. I still have the fan housing that came with her original engine. Is it something most people would recommend?

  4. Thanks Ihu, I was always planning on getting the tinware back on. Will have a look at the fan shroud on my old engine sometime this week.

The brakes were from red9design. http://www.red9design.co.uk/wheeladaptors.htm

    Cheers Pete

I'd suggest carrying a set of crowd barriers with you so you can set up an exclusion zone around your bus when you leave it in a car park somewhere to avoid the idiots who open their doors into the vehicle next to them. It would be tragic if that lovely metalflake and beautifully smooth panels got dented or scratched.

  6. Do they recommend changing the master cylinder ? I've gone 944 vented front and rear discs and changed the master cylinder to a bigger 944 one ...

  7. I like your style. Haha

Shall just have to park at the furthest away spaces in the car park. So far that I can scarcely see the supermarket. Can you imagine how fit I will get after all that extra walking? Mind you, at the rate I'm finishing this bus, the internal combustion engine will be a thing of the past and everyone will be teleporting anyway. ;-)

  8. Sounds impressive. Suspect you could stop on a dime. TBH I've not had a chance to try mine out as she is not quite running yet. But hoping to crack on as the summer is almost here.

  9. i would refit the original fan hosing and all of the cylinder head tins etc that are missing, including the rear tin over the gearbox, you need to stop all of the engine heat rising into the engine bay

  10. TBH I only changed brakes as I bought genuine Fuchs with 130pcd and don't agree with adaptors ....the stock brakes are very good especially with a servo

It’s taken a bit longer than expected but Catriona is certainly coming together. Difficult to get a picture that does the sparkly blue metal flake paintwork some justice., but she does pop in the sunshine. Wishful thinking in this Scottish climate, I know.

Oh I say! Very nice @Peter Moncur :). I’ve gone all Green Man looking at the wood panels. Proper nice

  13. Cheers Merlin, difficult to do the cabinets justice in the pics. No flat surfaces and more wood sculpture than cabinets. A couple more pics that might show the carved surfaces a lot better. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Blimey! I love it even more now. Will you be bringing down south at any time in the future so we can see it in person? :)
