Hi there new to the forum so hello from north Berwick and immediately am seeking some thoughts/experience/advice. I have a 77 Devon moonraker which requires a full restoration. I have completely stripped it back everything off and out and is now just a shell. I want to do bits myself but was thinking I would need help to kick it off particularly with the chassis as important to get it right. However I have had a professional insight who has told me not to bother as too much work and will cost way too much..question is shall I battle on or listen to this advice and does this mean any other firm may have the same opinion..thoughts welcome thank you Stephen
Hey Stephen, might be worth taking some pics and posting on here. Give us a better idea of the state the bus is in..
welcome to the forum. You'll have some insightful advice here I'm sure..me...I'm fairly new to vw so I don't have the experience or knowledge, to give. One thing I do know is.....
The pro is probably right, if you pay someone to do it it won't be worth it, If you dont have a welder buy one and crack on Look at some of the resto's on here
Either upload them all to photobucket then copy the code onto here, or use the "Upload a file" button.
Welcome from West Lancashire - judging from your photo it looks like a complete rebuild - this means to get someone to do it for you will probably cost you more than the bus is worth if it is done properly. Do it yourself for the cost of the panels if you have the space - the welding skills will come with practice - good luck with it.
Thanks think I'll give it a go. Just a couple of further questions do you know where I can find pieces for the back of the front two seats - this is the bulge section is a bit buckled and been filled in badly..haven't seen any parts for this. Also the door frame at the top that meets the roof has effectively dissolved as well as in the corners where it meets the b post..any advice for this thanks again...
Where are you based, get lots of pics up and we can give you some advice, seat backs aren't available new only used,
Hello and Welcome from The Colonial Contingent Start a thread in the Restoration area and put up lots of photos so the resto gurus can have a good look and offer some advice ( hopefully ).
