How do folks... I have just purchased a shiny new Propex HS2000E. I have a question on how to plumb the gas in. I currently have a small gas bottle under the bed the supplies gas to the hob via a rubber hose. How do I tee off the existing rubber pipe and run a separate supply to propex. I've seen a number of installs with copper pipe, but can I tee off to copper from rubber? So, supply in to tee is rubber, supply to hob is rubber but the supply to the propex cooper. Any ideas? Thanks
Probably not the correct way, but I got a brass t piece from the Calor shop and ran a flexible pipe to underbed and joined to rigid pipe at heater.
It should really be in a separate cupboard with a vent to the outside of the vehicle. Always turn the gas off at the bottle before sleeping in a camper.
I've opted for one of these, thought about putting a manifold in but reckoned there's more potential for leaks...the minimum joints the better Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
Would you trust the controls of a 40 year old cooker to not leak??? By the time your camper has cooled down from an evening of heating, you'll have switched off the gas and be tucked up under a nice duvet
I can see your point. But not every one has a leaky cooker. Some people even have isolation valves or manifolds so not as much of an issue. Which conversion is it (and which cooker). I have a few for spares!
Ok so you I've decided to do this proper. So in addition to the nice shiny blue propex, I've also got... Two way 8mm manifold (new cooker and propex) 8mm microbore pipe (replacing rubber pipe to cooker as well) Vent for floor. I had one in the original gas storage cupboard bits that now been taken up with a fridge compressor. Gas bottle holder strap (to keep it secure) I will post my install pics.
Any pics? Where did you fit it? Started mine today. What did you use to seal the exhaust and intake holes? Also how did you bolt the box to the van? I thinking of bolting from the outside in as the case has threaded holes.
I've got laminated floor so I fixed it to that , I drilled 50mm through the laminate to give clearance then 32mm through the van floor and sealed the flues with external silicon sealant.
