Cheers Busman. This was her yesterday, getting a suntan before the snow arrived today. The white looks so much better in the sunlight than under artificial lights. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Nice to get the wooden floor and the Rusty Lee bed in. Starting to feel more homely already. Next jobs are getting the new engine in, upgrade to disc brakes all round and gas struts for the suspension. Then I can concentrate on getting the heating system operational. Still hoping to get her completely done within eleven weeks. Well, fingers crossed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Thanks Mork. I am so looking forward to getting her blue. Will be a fabulous base for the metal flake I'm planning on finishing her with. But planning on getting the engine, brakes etc. sorted first. Much easier to sort out any scratches to the white paint than respray the entire side with blue flake. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'm not wanting to be the killjoy here as I love the colour and the finish looks awesome! But and I'm happy to be shot down, the dash piece with the perforated speaker holes would have been better in a satin finish as the reflections off the windscreen coming from that piece alone can be really bad to the point it can be dangerous while driving. Also I've heard the same kind of reports from some people who have fitted chrome wiper arms. Honestly it looks fantastic and you may not experience this issue but thought it only right to mention it prior to fitting. Again happy to be shot down in flames.
Hi Alan, we had a similar discussion before painting that glare might be a problem and tbh decided that the only way was try it and see. I haven't dry fitted it into the van yet. But if glare does become a problem, the plan is to spray it matt. Hoping it won't come to that but totally agree that it has got to be functional as much as looking good. Cheers mate. I shall post when I get round to rebuilding the dash and get her fitted. If the glare is a problem, should be simple enough to remedy, especially compared to amount of work needed to get to this point. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yes, I used silent coat. Probably overkill as I covered every single skin and those lovely struts which like to vibrate. Then single layer of dodo mat on the floor and double or triple layers on the walls which will be hidden by door cards. I appreciate there are cheaper options and my head hurt after reading the pros and cons of each and every material but in terms of ease of use - just, peel and stick, could not fault these and they are so dull when tapped afterwards. No ringing or drumming like they were before. Still have the doors and cab floor to look forward to. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The new wiring loom took longer than expected but at least the engine is back in. Some work to do on the engine support bar before the exhaust will fit on. But hopefully we can get some momentum going as I want her driving this summer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
