  1. I removed details from the samba

If the consensus is remove the date from the website then the headline can be changed to 'visit the late bay or blunderbus if you are interested in coming to techenders'

It's always been promoted on forums with an active membership, so if you're an active member of the samba and know people on there, then leave it.
What (to me) goes against the grain, is just advertising it to all and sundry who are unknown to anybody who currently goes.
Not saying I'm right, just my opinion.

I really think people are worrying over nothing, can't see hundreds of randomers just turning up because of a date in a mag!

  4. I think most agree with you
Listing it on a vw event page isn't advertising it to all and sundry - It is simply sharing the date with like minded bus owners who would find out more about it before coming

A camper mag have now listed the date and people here and on blunderbus seem to see it as an advert that may lead to 'un desirables' turning up

People are worrying unnecessarily, but I won't list the date anywhere again

I'll personally deal with any potential undesirables by giving them a big kiss when they arrive!

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one Paul!

  6. ok perhaps 'like minded bus owners' is pushing it!

This is where the event was listed and perhaps where the mag got info from

    http://www.vwshows.com/shows.php?year=2017

TLBers have already seen the listing and no one seemed bothered at the time

  7. A Glaswegian kiss :p Seriously though everyone who has been following this thread of the others ones has seen the great http://techenders.co.uk site you did and probably not realised, like me that there was the potential it was going to be picked up by a VW mag which could lead to people who none of us have ever met 'virtually' on here or otherwise turning up which has spoilt a lot of the other older VW shows for many. However, like others I can't see hordes of new people turning up but one easy way to maybe calm any such fears might be to only link to this / the blunderbus 'official' threads from the web site when they are ready and if anyone is still concerned maybe give Eddie a heads up to tell anyone that makes enquiries that they need to be registered on one of the forums to attend as it's a 'private' function?

I'm sure a lot of the above isn't necessary though and Eddie will have members of the general public on site anyway won't he whilst we are there?

Well, whatever happens the best way to deal with it will be there either round the campfire or forging friendships in someones engine bay.

For me the friendships I have made as a result of being on this forum have been cemented at TE. Some on-line personalities are completely different in life & the only way to judge is to put the phone or computer down for the weekend and pick up a spanner and a beer.

I'm gutted that there was a forum split as I see some of the great people who decided they wanted a change are suggesting they won't be there. That's a real shame as their knowledge, encouragement and friendship certainly helped us through some of the more difficult build stages in the past. It's only fair that we try & keep that legacy going between existing members, old & new.

    Anyway...

It's 8 weeks today YAY. Perhaps it's time to start building the enthusiasm for the event in the best way we know how & that's by encouraging each other to think about the forthcoming camping season & the little jobs we'd like to do with the help of our mates. @Baysearcher , is Eddie good with the event & are we having a confirmation thread to help us look forward to April?:D

  10. The forum split was a real shame.
I hoped the TE website would be a positive bridge between all of us who love techenders

Yep it was but only in the virtual world.
TE is real life & those who may come across as a real knobber on the forum (myself included) have the opportunity to show that they really are knobbers in real life.....
    ....if they turn up haha

    Don't worry, I'll be there!

Yes the split was a shame. For most though I thought it was just a virtual thing; I for one was laughing at (and guilty of) the little digs on both sides.
No idea why certain people have decided not to play anymore; it's a shame really.

  13. It needs not to be an "event" but a meeting that everyone just happens to be camping at!

Just because for them, at whatever stage they were at in their lives a the time, it was the right thing to do. Nothing more complicated or malicious than that really.
Time to move on & for us to look to the future. I don't see this forum as exclusive, just people exclude themselves. Lets go camping!!!!
