We have owned the camper for nigh on 14 years now and it is always an on going project with something else that needs doing/sorting.

  6. Gorgeous example, my mate had a super viking in the same colour but nowhere near as nice as yours.

Although we ruined it in my opinion by tubbing and slamming it.

  7. That's really nice. I like a Viking! Some dubious history given the reg plate but who cares these days!

Lovely bus, can we have more pics of the teardrop please I reckon this will be our route when my daughter gets a bit older as she's already talking about bringing a mate along on our trips!

When we first considered buying the van we paid for a vehicle examiner to go over it and carry out an HPI check through Green Flag. The examination came back as okay but as it had belly pans we were advised to steer clear as they thought it was rotten. We still have the examination report.
At the time I knew nothing about VW's and all appeared okay. Roll,on to now and I now know the front vent is wrong, the original holes for the indicators have been welded up and low ones cut in and the front badge is wrong for the year but the front clip is right for the small badge. Also the petrol filler should have a flap and the original colour was 'tiger green' which didn't come out till way after 1972.
In addition I was led to believe that Vikings were 2 litre engines and there was a hatch above the engine. Ours has neither!

What I do know is that the chap we bought it off worked at a VW breakers in South Yorkshire so there may lay a reason for its oddities. But after having the old bus so long and spending soooo much time, effort and money I just reconciled myself to ignore it all and love it for what it is.
