Fitted a set from a golf I think into my 2ltr type 4.. voltmeter fine.. pressure gauge not working but was on test rig so must just me a wire but temp gauge goes off to 170°+.. can't be that hot as dipstick is fine to hold onto comfortable warm at worst.. are they adjustable for scale or do I need a new sender? Are they a set off an old Golf/Corrado/etc? Oil pressure should be fine, as from memory the sender hasn't changed much over the years. Don't know about the temp sender - this is oil temp, yes? First step's to check your wiring, of course
VDO oil temp senders have at least 2 variants , both look the same but have different `ratings` so the guage has to match the sender , ask how i found that one out .... I really don`t know about the pressure guages though , i just bit the bullet and popped into JK when i was out that way and bought the kit .
Yes pressure was good when u test ran it's just the temp gauge well high.. might need to check sender model.. ta Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Ok... some eejit forgot the earth from the gauges! Thought it was only feed and senders... . I'll see where the temp gets to now on a run but 5 mins on the drive nudges it past the 60° and 4 bar on startup dropping to 3.5 when it's warmer at idle.... guess that'll drop once I do a few more miles on it and it loosens up a bit...Halfords 20/50 in there *OIL QUESTION ALERT* ..or should I be swapping to a lighter oil for now? On mine the oil starts out at 3.5 bar but drops off as it warms. Round town it’s about 1.5 and under 1 at idle, but at 60 mph it’s about 2.6. The only official figure I can find is in Bentley which says pressure at 70° with SAE 30 oil at 2500 rpm should be 2.9 bar with a lower wear limit of 2 bar, so yours is probably OK. I use 20/50 and it uses a fair bit.
