  4. Keswick is just the touristy side of the lakes really.

  5. a great trip then, did you get round without any issues?

  6. That site is on our radar too - we were in the C&CC Troutbeck site near Penrith last year - very quiet with the best shower block ever. .

Gusbus behaved spot on, 450 miles total, had a great week. The only regret was going to Clitheroe, looking back we wished we went to Camperjam via Dent instead.

Weather was wet but it didn't stop us getting out into Keswick :D

TBH, we felt that too - as I mentioned, we didn't see the true splendour of the Lakes!

  9. It is but its a good base. I used to like a few nights around various points and then camping here as good facilities, easy shopping and walk into town. plus some lovely easy or difficult walks from here.

  10. And there is some fantastic rock climbing in the Borrowdale Valley

  11. Keswick is only 25 minutes from here but we still don't get there very often unless hiking boots or a jacket are needed.

  12. Cant recall where you are but did used to spend quite a few weekends in Workington as had scootering chums up there. Was strange to just drive through the lakes without stopping.

  13. I'm in Maryport only 6 miles north of Workington.
The run through the lakes on the A591 is one of the highlights of any journey heading south. ;)

Great site that camping and caravan one but theyre not big fans of me and Carl.

  15. Yes. I remember now. 591 is fantastic. As a biker (will be again one day) ive always loved that stretch of the 66 past Bassenthwaite!

  16. Actually the 591 from keswick down to Ambleside once memorised and taken at speed is an absolute white knuckle ride. Pillions nightmare lol.
