I did some work in the Emirates stadium once though and the pitch looks much smaller than on the telly.
i'm probably not the best one to ask as i'm not a football fan, i've been to a few wolves games in the last few years the pies are nice but for me i can't overly get into football, i suppose it's for the atmosphere but to be fair in these troubled times the last place you'll catch me is a worldwide televised event - tick tick boom!
The crowds are strange arent they...the Albanians, Turks etc all looks relatively healthy and wealthy, yet are painted as in their Arse with two teeth in their head. If the social status of who we tend to send to matches, matches theirs, then are these states reall that badly off?!
I worked at the majority of football matches in my small county for about 19 years during the 80s and 90s as well as the matches at Nottingham during Euro 96. The idiots really organise and plan their fights. The main ring leaders were all employed, many in white collar jobs. I suspect the Russians have all done national service or been conscripted and this is why they kicked the poo out of the English counterparts. Euro 96 was fine and pleasant until England lost on penalties. The drunken English idiots couldn't handle that and thought that he were justified to smash pubs up in the city centre. About ten minutes of pushing and baton and order was restored. Just meant that every time England play anywhere, police leave is cancelled. One of m mates was a 'spotter' and went abroad to ID the travelling England idiots. He went to spot in France when the World Cup was held there. They briefed the local police (in the same city where the trouble was this weekend)about closing the bars, they found the English trouble makers. They again warned the local police about the potential trouble. The French ignored the advice and only acted when major fights started which resulted in English fans being stabbed. Moral to story, alcohol and England football 'fans' don't mix and the French police do their own thing.
Triathlon at roundhay park Leeds ,I used to live near there... Lovely to see the lake etc.... it's on now btw...
I love going to watch football live and I've been going for 40 years but I've never even considered going to an England game. I get as excited and passionate as anyone watching Northampton but the mindset of some of those morons is totally alien to me
How the hell the place is selling glass pints and bottles of beer is beyond me....still, everyone likes a good chair to throw don't they..
You kind of think, if people can smuggle flares into the stadiums, not much to stop someone from ISIS or anyone with sympathies to that sort of thing smuggling a firearm in.
last part was though Rounhay park ,then next year they moved it the center of Leeds ,hence the grass...(jimmy savile was behind me so had to hurry up) Dunno what the knuckle duster was ... It was the last marathon that had a colour photo ,the rest was in black and white with PROOF splashed across it (start of rip off britain),I was to tight to buy it in colour...
You were a fashion setter for Leeds. Vest, chav pants, adidas samba, knuckle duster. Sure you weren't going to sign on?
that was on the Monday after... It was great to think I could do that when I most certainly was in the pub the night before and I had to run 5 miles to the start ,then walk (crawl) five miles home...
The one regret I have in life is not learning to swim (proper)till my early 40's ,I did think I could not swim... Those brothers are brill ...
