After reviewing new cars and how they are overloaded with irrelevant electronic carp, or stuff which will kill you or someone else or write off the vehicle when it fails (lane following /pedestrian avodance etc .. ).. and that write off may be when the vehicle is static and computer diagnostics say "no more" I have decided its time to start giving my 04 plate Peugeot 307 SW some of the same love as my bus. Discovered that the garage telling me that the rear brake disk on my Peugeot 307 was rusty actually meant that the caliper and pads were a rusted seized together mess and the caliper was flexing to get the pads onto the disc. Some time with a hammer, a file and Copaslip and its all moving now. Annoying that the new discs and pads I had were the wrong type and I need the £90 integral bearing type rather than the £30 separate disc type..
Finished cutting out a hole in the cargo floor for my propex to find id mismeasured and it sort of not where i wanted it. It Will therfore be a larger hole than it needs to be. Ie plently of adjustment available.
Also had a dig arount the underseal on whats left of the front outrigger supposedly replaced someone 8 years ago to find factory paint! Draw your own conclusions.
Hung a door for my dad. Took the note wheel drum off and went to a local HGV garage to have wheel bearings pressed out and new ones pressed in walkeded the dog and emptied van. Getting ready for tomorrrows party now.
Put new barrels & pistons in engine. All bolted on. Just need to find some info on thermostats, as missing in the flaps.
Completely failed to correctly predict any of the lotto numbers. Particularly the bonus ball, I guessed 38 and was wrong, it was 52. This is a personal triumph, since I had been talked into another online lottery by a bunch of e-friends and had I guessed correctly, I would now be the (proud) owner of a Cowley built Rover 75 parked up at the other end of the country, without mot and running on just five cylinders. So failure to predict bonus - win, Failure to predict the other six - no surprise at all.
I've just been to IKEA for the second time this year! Must get myself some better plans so I don't end up there again for a while
Renewed our house insurance for £200 less than the "loyal customer" quote from Direct Line. They should be shot.
Went out for a drive in Chrisgooners van, made me decide to do a Subaru conversion on my bus. Some achievement for me.
And today i have realised my original propex was quieter cos it didnt have that awful purge routine the new ones have ie, when its on its on, when its off its off. Ah well. Perhaps insould keep em both fitted!
the later propex have a purge routine of sorts....they turn the fan on to cool the unit after it's been switched off. Does it feel warm though? that's the main thing...
That purge routine has been very cleverly designed to pump just enough cold air into a VW Campervan to bring it back down to the same temperature as it was when you decided to turn the flipping heater on because you were cold.
