1978 Rustfalia
« on: Sun 18/07/10, 18:42 »
Just picked this up for $1k.  A smokin deal around these parts.  Has some cancer issues, but has some great features:  all original paint and interior, al original manuals and records, 3 previous owners.  Rust is fairly localized in rear arches, outer rockers and driver side dogleg, rear valance below engine lid.  The rest I hope is fixable without welding.  Floors are mint! Frame is very solid.  Needs a good cleanup first, and then we'll see what I can get done over the next few years.  Got a couple kids to "help" me, so the going will be slow.

Looks a bargain from pics. The guy could easily have broken it and sold the interior for that looking at it seems pretty clean inside.

Nice!

What Stussy said. That interior is better looking than a lot of buses 6 times the amount you paid.

First round of cleaning done.
Next is inside, then the poptop...

Cleaned a few years worth of moss and stains off.. still needs lots more work.

Just shows that it's worth looking beyond the minor blemishes on the paintwork...  :grin cool pics of the interior, very nice bus with loads of use left in her!  :yes

got a few renos done at home, and managed to slip in a few bus renos too..  believe it or not, this represents the last 3 weeks of work on the bus (granted only about an hour's work or two).

Got the tire mount off..ouch!

Drilled, tapped, installed my shifter knob... easier said than done as the first tap broke off in the hole while cutting threads!

As she sits:

Gonna take this ugly stove out and use me butane camp stove.  Also need to put the spare tire cabinet back to stock.

She's my daily now and running just about perfect so far.. wants to stall every now and then but never does.  Atta girl!
