Have you got your birth certificate from VW? You may find you're inside the cut off when it rolled through the factory.

I wholeheartedly agree with this and have had the same experience with an added Mmmmmmmmmmm as we successfully pull into the campsite, park up and crack open a beer

Wilma's a rum 'un, dob says 1.11.72 but wasn't registered till 74, so tax exempt (yes officer those black reg plates are legal) but an M.

Her name comes from the reg BWE 271M the Big Wilma Experience, two hundred and seventy one miracles, cos that's what it took to get her up and running! Moira

One of mine was N, but i discovered it was imported when a few years old so got a birth certificate - 3rd Jan 73.

just missed it, but rather pay tax than for the continous welding repairs on the one I had before. Can't remember how old my current one is - I took it to bits a year ago, welded it for 6 solid weeks then haven't had a chance to do a thing to it since.

on the dvla sit it says it gives 7 days grace so you could of kept it. sorry bit late

The documents you will need to produce
• Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C) – This must clearly show a date of registration or manufacture of the vehicle before *1 January 1973. If you do not have a V5C or if you think the age shown is incorrect, you will need to produce a dating certificate from a vehicle enthusiasts club or evidence from the vehicle manufacturer.
*Note: Where a V5C indicates that the vehicle was registered up to and including 7 January 1973, we will let you register it as a Historic Vehicle.
• An appropriate test certificate (if applicable)
• A valid insurance certificate
• A filled in ‘Application for a tax disc’ (V10) which you can get from

mine was registered in 79 when imported so T i think, but it was made in 74, it has a private reg on now though that came with it

Mines an L Reg from March 73 but just got a birth certificate from VW wolfsberg Museum in Germany and it was built in September 72 so i am now in possession of a nice free tax disc.
The last owner said he had enquired about this and it missed it, so never believe what someone else said.
