I purchased my Benny from Vanvest 2006, Ive always admired VW's , I have to admit I wanted a splity but just wouldn't part with the extra cash, walking around I saw this one and went for it, Back in my early 20's I owned a mk2 golf gti, pretty tatty when I purchased it but with some tlc, time and loads of money it was a show stopper.
Benny was built in 1972 originally orangutang/white

roof, running a 1700, most the restoration had been carried out when I purchased him. He is now turkish green/white roof, 1600 type 1 twin port
The first item I purchased was a Protech drive in shelter and in my opinion its got to be money well spent.
It broke down a few times within months of having him but basically teething problems nothing major and flat battery every time I wanted togo out, forever jump starting the old boy!, and what with no power steering and what felt like no brakes I started to think I'd purchased a lemon and even worse I was growing guns on my arms and legs lol.
Early February 2007 I found a VW specialist, I had it lowered - purchased twin 34 webers and a single glasspack. When you install a glasspack you will get a really deep and aggressive tone in stead of the boring factory exhaust i personally love glasspacks. And another thing that's nice about them is they improve your fuel economy(depending on how you drive) and they can also give you anywhere from 5-10hp to so that's always nice. When the mechanic was working he found that the servo on the breaks wasn't connected which explained why I needed to stamp on the breaks to stop!
Still not entirely happy with how the drive felt I took Benny to the Race shack mid 2007 for a full diagnostic test and retune and gave him new tyres all round, since then he has done me proud.
It houses an original Westfalia conversion, I have since gone on to have some custom interior chroming and bespoke sun visors made.
I'm sure there's loads more stuff to tell....watch this space
