Say hello to Holly!

She rolled out of Wolfsburg in 1976, destined for the US market, and spent most of her life trundling around sunny California before being picked up in Hollywood (hence her name) and shipped to the UK earlier this year.

She's a Westfalia Campmobile with the 'Berlin' seating and cupboard configuration. She originally had just the sink but this was changed for an aftermarket sink/cooker combo. She's got the original Westfalia seat coverings and main section of cabin carpet.

She's painted in Chrome Yellow, the upper part of her body being resprayed in the States late last year, and her underneath is rust free and as solid as can be. She's sitting on stock rims and US-spec whitewall tyres.

She's powered by a stock 2-litre Type 4 US-spec engine with Bosch electronic fuel injection.

We've been away on a couple of mountain biking trips together so far. Planning to get way a lot more over the summer...

Will post more photos as soon as I've taken them....

Very nice, have one just like it, but lower and paint not as shiny... I've always thought the colour was Marino Yellow?

Thanks Scoob!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that's the same colour isn't it?

9156..   L20A      marinogelb    chrome yellow     only used on Westfalia campmobiles

Actually, thinking about it, I need to post the M-plate up on here and someone can help me decipher it....

Maybe you're right, it's defo the same code as I've done some 'paintin' to mine... don't do German language too well so maybe 'Marin' translates as 'Chrome'...

:cool bus all the same - Mine is near identical but I've 'doctored' the interior in a few ways, nothing drastic tho'

From what l have seen, it isn't a colour specific to Westfalia although it was one of the 4 colours that they sold their campers in in the States. Marinogelb (Chrome yellow(USA) was called marino yellow here. Likewise Taigegrun (Sage green (USA) was called taige green here.

There are 2 different paint codes for it: 2*72079871<L20H and 2*72079872>L21H depending on where your bus is on the chassis run.

Send me the M plate and I'll work it out for you.

Mines the same but the paint code sticker behind the drivers seat states L20A not H.

Thanks Birdy. Here's a photo of the M Plate:

The numbers are:

72 035 932

246

915641 D04 P22 073 227

40 4 7475 UR 2319 61

If you could help shed some light on her history that would be great!

Oh, and a photo of the original California licence plate she came in to the UK with. I'm guessing she was off the road for 13 years given the last sticker was from 1996:

Awesome, cheers Birdy. Some karma your way.

Oh yeah, five months apart. Your bus went into LA I see....probably the same port as mine though my M-code doesn't specify exact location.

New things...

Replaced the plastic number plates with pressed metal "classic" ones:

And I sourced a replacement Westy vent cover to replace the original badly cracked one:
