I'd say a top end rebuild would be the heads, barrels and pistons plus the associated gaskets. If I was doing it, I'd also look at new pushrod tubes and seals for those too.
Dunno how hard a job it would be but I'd say kitchen table would be an ass kicking time from Mrs Red.

From what l gather it sounds like it's best to do it in the mens den. I cleaned the front shock of the 104 in the bath once when living with my parents. Father was not impressed!!!!

And I'm with you there 75Tintop, what's wrong with oily engine smell. I think Glade do a plug-in of the scent :)

the biggest issue will be getting it in a doorway so remove the complete exhaust system first. also make sure its well drained of oil.

when choosing your rebuild location I always look for all round access to it as spinning it on a table is a mare. If your stuck for a place to do it empty the rear shelf of the van and put some mdf on it then you have the tailgate to hide under if it starts raining and the rear shelf is a good height to work at... also if you get stuck you can close it up and lock it whilst you have a chill. oh and you wont need a divorce lawyer!  ;)

what bits are you changing? get a good gasket set and if your old pushrod tubes are ok just re stretch them a little. I also recommend a gasket sealant called weld seal (Its the bollox) aviation sealant.
