Yes, its an prototype
« on: Tue 02/03/10, 20:22 »
Hello.
I joined this forum so i thought id put a few pix up of my van.
A quick rundown of my van since i baught it in 08.

It was imported from the US in the winter of 2007/2008 i believe and baught it in the september.
Was taxed and tested but looking a little sorry for itself.....

1st thing to do was a full engine build. The oil light came on (the level was fine) and the engine started to rattle.
Big ends, little ends, mains, camshaft, oil pump, rings, 2 OG rebuilt sp heads + god only knows what else.

Whilst the motor was out The van went to the bodyshop for repairs to the front panel(holes under screen rubber and hole behind the bumper ware the water eat its way back out).

Next the sunroof had to be refitted, so the roof and bumpers got a going over aswell. Sunroof and mechanicals were in the back when i baught it and a sheet of perspex screwed on in its place.

Snuck a little bit of camping in at santapod, BigBang i think .

Quick slap with the lowering stick.
Creative adjusters at the front and a spline at the backck.
It doesnt roll on 3 bolts btw, id just put the axle on and wanted to see how low it would go :). Ive got it adjusted to adout 2 in below standard height now.
More comming, im just a slow typist lol.

Bit more camping. Santapod again.

As the front panel was all new and shiney and the rest of the van wasnt it needed sorting. Had to choose between a full respray or getting the front panel dulled down somehow to match. Decided to go for the paint job as its in the UK now so needs protecting.
Stripdown time!!!

Popped to the bodyshop now and then for updates.

Freshly painted....
.
Had it back a while now and started fitting it up so will get a few more up to date pix this week sometime soon

Yeh, im not a purist as sutch and did think about a colour change but decided to go for the original colour although the roof and bumpers an Old English white BL colour i think it was.
Gotta get the wheels and front Badge to match at some point.

Helps if its raining and theres a few of you. Weve sqeeezed about 8 or 9 people in at one point. Sleeps 3, 1 double and 1single.
