can you get diamond discs for steel, got loads of stone ones that i use for work, never tried them on steel though!

Dog, you need cutting discs for cutting out steel from the panels and grinding discs for the grinding up of welds etc. Your local Toolstore should have a good selection of discs. Dont forget your goggles too  :sp:

got the cutting discs, just intrigued about using a diamond disc, would have thought it'd skip all over the place! i use flap discs on the welds, just think they're nicer to use. going throught cutting discs like noones business, and they're not cheap
i use a full face visor, earplugs and a dust mask. oh and the guard is going back on tomorrow. going to get another grinder for the flap discs and wire wheels so i dont keep having to swap over all the time!

well, had better luck with the fingers, just not with the integrity of the front panel.....its pretty knackered!

all round the lights is rusty or non existant, covered in an unhealthy amount of filler

every time i remove filler i find more bodged rusty areas. i hate whoever did the paint job on this, they just fillered over all the rust and holes then painted it! its a shame because the finish was really smooth, looks like they were good at what they do, but just love bodging and shortcuts!

why would you ignore this a-post rust when you put in a new cab step???? the po is (*%$£^&((!!!

well, been chopping away today, used the diamond blade, one thing i will say is that it leaves especially sharp burrs, so make sure you use good thick gloves, i didn't and i now have a very painful sliced thumb!.
here's my pile of cut offs

got this to go back on

after the chop, and now awaiting a new front panel!

needs a good clean up first and the bottom and lower corners need sorting out, but i blew the fuse in my plug and i've ran out of 13a, so i'll carry on tomorrow!

was going to just fix it, but i know i wouldnt be happy!, got really good access to the lower a posts too so i can rebuild them too! might even try to beef up the front structure a bit while i'm here! bit worried about that after seeing various crash test videos, and after seeing what really happens in rtc's through being a firefighter!

ok so front is off now, and it looks like this

got some work to do around the air bit in the middle, but going to wait for my dremel so i can be a bit more precise, and for the front panel so i can see what i need to keep
the inner panel was sound, but really poorly welded, so i took that off and i'm going to repair it
the schofields packing tape was still attached to it and stuffed down in between the panels

turns out the tabs to attatch the vent cover to the new panel were in there too!

i dont understand why they didn't just peel the tape off. some people are sooooo shoddy!
