Registering with a mechanic?
« on: Thu 04/02/10, 11:30 »
Time for my next stupid question (mine will be doubly stupid as I've never even owned a car before!!)...

Should we register ourselves with a mechanic when we bring the van home next weekend?

Or should we wait until the MOT runs out (late November I think).

Anyone know of any good ones in London (South preferable).  I've seen Jack's Garage in the magazines...

Thanks,

JenW

no need to register. just get the van and when you need bits doing phone around or post on here for advice costs etc.

most of us have used garages before and have learnt the hard way. when mot is done post up here what needs doing and that will give you a starting point for what it's going to cost or if you can do it yourself

I use Darren at VW Airfix in Carshalton. Stanley Park Road, SM5 3JG. Sort of South London. Imagine just a few miles away from Purley Way.

I know the chaps at Volksworld also use him. He's been in the trade for years.

Hi,

Birdy that's brilliant as that's our neck of the woods!!

lost-en-france - we didn't take anyone along, but we did take said van for a test drive & review the mot certificate etc.  And the guy is a classic car seller who imported his own van and went over again to import these.  So it all seemed above board (guess we'll find out as time goes on).

Thanks again

JenW
