Have found a JK cover helps in that as soon as I take it off I have chavvy kids swarming round it and gains a lot of looks and intrest from passers by which I find rather uncomforting, certainly makes me feel more secure with it on, plus I have a steering wheel lock and a security light beaming on it.
What I would really like though is an alarm that will sound off upon opening the doors or the engine trying to be started, but I'm just not sure which one  :um: don't want lots of wiring involved, plus I would like a tracker, any suggestions? What do you think of this one...http://www.towsure.com/product/16163-Metis_Caravan_Anti-Theft_GPS_Tracker

I'm all for people getting anything they can like the GPS Tracker. Only trouble is, you have to do the leg work with it.

to be honest in my eyes thats quite a good thing nothing worse than sitting waiting for news, atlest when the phone goes from your van you can monitor any conversations/noise within 5m of the mic, confirm for yourself its been stolen or is being stolen and call the old bill, then sit back and watch its progress on line...

Aaron

I got the impression from the prototype link that you bought a £70 unit for a trial. Have you had chance to fit it?
How does it differ from a £350 unit?

Don't care what it costs, I would be absolutly heart broken if it got stolen, the amount of time, money, sweat, tears and blood, yes blood!, i have put into that bus plus hours of research into the best products to use, the best way to do it and the satisfaction that I have done 85% of it myself,  then yes it is well worth every penny spent on keeping it mine  :)

Aren't there ways of adding a secret button that you need to press otherwise the engine will cut out after 30 seconds? Means they'll panic and run.

When on the drive, I use one of my spare motorcycle locks through the wheel and round the roll bar :-

As always with these things, it's just a bit more of a deterrent

We used a steering lock bar through the steering wheel..

A wheel clamp,
A Five bar gate.

Two dogs..

And a Mrs B... She is the lightest sleeper ever, now that we have children.. So she can hear the slightest pin drop..

So don't mess, or Mrs B will set the dogs on you..!

Vw - I like'm all
In it for the long haul.. :bag:

My sister lgave me her breathable caravan cover and since its way to big I have to tighten the straps so much it would take about 10 min to take off and so I think this helps plus I park it up my parents drive.

I've spoken to a guy i met recently, he said that his friend fashioned some pedal locks. He made them from cut to size scaffold poles sliced in half and hinged with a hoop for a padlock at the front. Apparently this had stopped theives on two occasions from taking his bus.  :)
He only thought of this after his last bus was stolen!

A stop gap solution if you can't afford a tracker is to use an old mobile phone hidden somewhere in your bus (preferably connected to power supply). Then you can sign up for one of the mobile tracking sites that paranoid parents use to keep an eye on their kids and track your bus. Obviously accuracy isn't as good but will give you rough location to start a search.

Also means that you'll always have a charged mobile phone in your bus for emergencies! ;)
